One of New Jersey’s leading environmental advocacy groups is backing Democratic U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill to be the state’s next governor — a notable early endorsement in the big race.

The New Jersey League of Conservation Voters stood with Sherrill, a four-term congresswoman, during an event in Hamilton on Wednesday, a little less than four months before the Democratic primary in the battle to succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy.
