Did you use the ParkMobile app? You may be eligible for part of a $32.8M settlement after data breach.

If you used the ParkMobile app and received a notification from the company about a data breach that happened in 2021, you could be eligible for a cash settlement.

The popular app, used in many Jersey Shore towns to collect parking fees, has agreed to a $32.8 million settlement to resolve claims “relating to an unknown actor’s unauthorized access to the Personal Information of ParkMobile App users,” the settlement website said.

ParkMobile said it reached the settlement so it could “focus on the ongoing protection of our customers' information and to continue enhancing our services.”

“We prioritize the protection of our customers and their data, continuously enhancing our security posture and monitoring based on industry best practices,” it told NJ Advance Media.

As many as 21 million people could be affected, according to the settlement website.

It said people who received a notification from ParkMobile about the incident are included as settlement class members.

But to get a cash payment, you have to submit a claim form on the settlement website at ParkMobileSettlement.com. The maximum cash payout is capped at $25 per person, it said.

Those who don’t sign up for the cash payment will receive a code from ParkMobile for a $1 credit, good for one year, to use on the app.

The deadline to sign up for the cash payments is March 5, 2025.

The settlement still needs final approval from a judge, and a hearing is scheduled for March 13.

If you’re not sure if you’re included in the settlement, you can call (866) 944-4062 or by emailing info@ParkMobileSettlement.com.
