Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham put in significant work to ensure he could play in the Super Bowl after being sidelined with a torn triceps in Week 12 of the regular season. Graham made his way back onto the field for the game but re-injured himself, adding in another factor for him to consider with free agency approaching.

Appearing on 97.5 The Fanatic’s “Kincade and Salciunas,” NFL reporter and “Gunn on One” podcast host Derrick Gunn said Graham suffered the same injury in the Super Bowl that had previously landed him on injured reserve.

“It’s funny because we text back and forth, and he re-tore his triceps in the Super Bowl, so he had another surgery on that,” Gunn said.

After initially tore his triceps in Week 12 against the Los Angeles Rams, Graham was given an outside shot to play in the Super Bowl if the team made it to the game, which it did. He played 13 snaps in the game, finishing with a tackle. Graham wasn’t the only player to tear his triceps. Linebacker Nolan Smith, who saw an increase in playing time after Graham’s injury, suffered the same injury and also required surgery.

Graham, 36, is scheduled to become a free agent but has contemplated retirement. Graham finished the regular season with 3.5 sacks, 20 tackles, and six tackles for loss.

Gunn said not to rule out the possibility of Graham returning for another season, though it’s unclear if the injury will factor into his decision.

“I don’t think he’s completely of the mindset right now that he’s done,” Gunn said. “He’s weighing all of his options, talking to his wife, talking to his agent, and getting a feel for it. I’m on the fence—I’m at 50-50 right now. Normally, I have a better gauge on Brandon in terms of what he wants to do and what he’s thinking. He’s keeping this close to the vest in terms of how he’s proceeding in 2025.”
