Kurt Warner knows what it takes to be a bridge quarterback. He played the role for the New York Giants in 2004, helping them groom their possible future Hall of Famer Eli Manning.
On Monday, Steve Serby of The New York Post asked Warner who he thinks should be the Giants' bridge in 2025 should they draft a quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft. Given a choice between Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins or Aaron Rodgers, here’s who Warner would pick:
“I believe they have to win, so that, to me, is what puts me into Aaron Rodgers' camp,” Warner said, via The Post. “At the end of last year, he was, in my opinion, by far the best of those three quarterbacks,” Warner said. “And so, if I’m looking for the best available bridge guy to win right now, Aaron Rodgers, to me, would be the guy that I’d go get while I groom another young guy.”

In February, Rodgers was informed by the Jets that he wouldn’t be back for a third season. This came weeks after the Jets hired Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, ushering in a new era in New York that will include a new quarterback.
After appearing in one game (four snaps) in 2023 because of a torn Achilles, Rodgers played 17 games this season. He went 5-12 while completing 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
The Giants are currently slated to pick third in the NFL draft but are believed to be interested in trading up for the No. 1 pick. They are high on Miami’s Cam Ward, but they don’t appear to be as interested in Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, whose draft stock has been dropping recently, according to NJ Advance Media’s Ryan Novozinsky.
