The Jersey Journal’s ‘Final Words’ series: A look at issues important to Hudson County

Some issues are as constant as death and taxes ― and prior to Monday, The Jersey Journal. Some are, given The Journal’s 157-year history, relatively new.

Over the past month, Journal reporters, editors and columnists have looked back, and forward, for comprehensive reports about what has been and will continue to be the tentpole topics of the Hudson County community.

Among the staples are politics, the housing market and health care. We also took a look at the sports figures, local music and the crimes that shaped the county over the past 40 or so years.

There are also final reports on current events, like the revitalization plans at Liberty State Park, New Jersey City University’s financial struggles and North Bergen’s ill-conceived bid to keep its preschool program in a county park.

Journal photographers also showcased some of their most memorable work during their time at the newspaper.
