“The Rookie” returned on Tuesday, January 7, but when will season 7 come to an end?
The season 7 finale of “The Rookie” is set to air on Tuesday, May 13. While the full episode schedule has yet to be released, there are 12 episodes left in season 7 of “The Rookie,” based on TVLine‘s reporting that the season consists of 18 total episodes.
Only eight episode titles have been officially announced thus far, the last of which is titled “Wildfire” and is set to air on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
“The Rookie” follows John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), the LAPD’s oldest rookie, as he works alongside a team of fellow recruits and seasoned officers. The police procedural yielded a spinoff, “The Rookie: Feds,” but it was canceled after one season in 2023.

During an interview with TVInsider in January 2025, The Rookie’s Eric Winter teased that “Feds” alum Britt Robertson will reprise her role as FBI agent Laura Stensen during upcoming episodes of the OG series. Robertson previously appeared in the “Rookie” season 6 finale.
“Britt comes in. I get some great scenes with Britt. She’s lovely. She’s a lot of fun,” said Winter, who plays Sergeant Tim Bradford. “There are more coming throughout the season where we utilize ‘Feds’ in the right way and still keep those characters active in our universe.”
Winter’s character is dealing with some interesting interpersonal dynamics this season. After Tim and Officer Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) broke up during season 6, the pair now seem like they could be headed toward a reconciliation. But Tim’s ex-girlfriend Rachel Hall (Jasmine Mathews) recently showed up again after previously disappearing to New York.
“Jasmine, who plays Rachel, was such a great addition to the show, but she was super busy, so part of the reason that Rachel went away [at the end of Season 2], at least for us, was to try and get ahead of Jasmine being unavailable to us,” series cocreator Alexi Hawley told TVLine in January 2025. “I was always looking for a way to bring her back.”
Hawley noted that it wasn’t his intention to create “a love triangle” between Rachel, Lucy, and Tim by bringing Mathews back.
“I thought that would ultimately be manipulative to the fans in a way that I don’t like to be,” he explained. “It seemed like a good opportunity to stir the pot a bit, but also to get Jasmine back on the show.”
“The Rookie” airs on ABC on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST and is available to stream on Hulu the next day.
