Work is progressing on repairing I-80 east in Wharton, which has been closed since a sinkhole opened up on Feb.10, but the highway is still an weeks away from reopening, officials said.
Department of Transportation officials said “advanced scanning, testing, and proactive drilling and grouting operations are continuing on I-80 eastbound near Exit 34.” But early indications are those repairs will take a minimum of several weeks, the DOT said in a release.
Last weekend, crews conducted advanced scanning and testing on I-80 locations further west and east of previous test locations.
