Earlier this month, the new Jets regime made the decision to move on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a decision that wasn’t met with total support from the locker room.

Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams took to social media in the hours after the decision became public knowledge and wrote “another rebuild year for me I guess,” before deleting it and posting a thumbs-down emoji.

Head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters at the Scouting Combine this week that he has spoken to Williams.

“Listen, I understand the reaction of the players,” Glenn said. ”But I will say this: Every decision that me and Moug [Darren Mougey] make is to win, and to win now. I understand it, but again, listen, this isn’t going to be the last decision I make that will upset some people, and that’s OK.

“As men, we talk about it. We make sure we keep it in house, and that’s what we’re going to continue to do.”

Rodgers’ 2023 season ended after four snaps when he tore his Achilles in Week 1 against the Bills. Expectations going into 2024 with a healthy Rodgers were once again sky-high, but the 41-year-old’s time in New York was generally a disappointment.

In 17 games this season, Rodgers went 5-12, while completing 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

The decision likely means that wide receiver Davante Adams will not be returning in 2025, along with wide receiver Allen Lazard. Adams and Lazard followed Rodgers from Green Bay where they had far more success. Mougey said this week that the decisions there will come soon.
