The Knicks traded reserve center Jericho Sims to the Milwaukee Bucks in a move that brings back shooting guard Delon Wright and cash considerations.
The deal is part of the larger Khris Middleton for Kyle Kuzma deal involving the Bucks and Washington Wizards and was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
SNY’s Ian Begley reported the Knicks bring back Wright, 32, the draft rights to Hugo Besson and cash considerations.
The 6-foot-10 Sims, who played college ball at Texas, is making about $2 million this season. He averages 1.6 points and 3.3 rebounds while playing just 10.8 minutes per game. He now has the opportunity to play more minutes with the Bucks.
The Knicks still have Ariel Hukporti as a backup big. The 6-11 rookie averages 1.8 points and 1.8 points in about 8 minutes per game.
The 6-5 Wright is known for his defense and averages 2.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He gives the Knicks another veteran in the backcourt.
During a week in which Luka Doncic and Jimmy Butler were both traded in mega-deals, the Knicks were expected to make moves around the periphery to help their team.
They are 34-17 and sit in third place in the East heading into a monster showdown with the Boston Celtics Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.
