More than half of calls to ANCHOR hotline go unanswered, only 9% reach a live representative, state says

It’s been two months since payments for the ANCHOR property tax benefit started going out to New Jersey residents.

Some 30,000 homeowners and renters are still waiting to receive their payments, the state Treasury Department told NJ Advance Media.

Among them are dozens of taxpayers who say they can’t get through to a live representative on the agency’s hotline, bringing into question whether call center services have improved since an NJ Advance Media special report, published in February, spotlighted the difficulties residents have had connecting to some essential government services, including the ANCHOR hotline.
