This contemporary home for sale in Watchung may be the perfect party house.
The three-story, 3,570-square-foot home has plenty of room for entertaining with decks on every level and an in-ground pool. It also has views of the New York City skyline.
“This is what you would call the premier street in Watchung,” said Nick Homcy of Re/Max 1st Advantage in Clark, who, along with Robert Dekanski, is a co-listing agent for the home.
The home has been on and off the market since June 2024, when it was listed for $1.49 million. It was relisted in August 2024 for $1.44 million. The price was decreased twice in September to $1.35 million and then to $1.3 million and lowered to $1.25 million in November. It’s been off the market since Jan. 1 and was relisted February 11 for $1.199 million.
The median sales price of a home in Watchung was $822,500 as of December, according to the most recent data available from New Jersey Realtors.
“We’ve been through a few buyers that held it up,” Homcy said. “Now it’s relisted to where it should be ... a price that reflects some of it being dated.”
The four-bedroom house has the primary suite on the second level and the other three bedrooms on the ground level.
“The bedrooms are separated so you have complete privacy in the master upstairs while guests have their own privacy downstairs,” he said. “It’s not like a lot of houses where it’s set up for the kids to be next door to your room.”
The main level has the kitchen, dining room and a great room with a fireplace and two-story tall ceilings.
The second level has a loft overlooking the great room, the primary suite and access to a rooftop deck.
On the ground level are the three guest rooms, each with their own bathroom, space for entertaining and walk-out access to the pool deck.
Trees around the property give it privacy. “You really do get the feeling of having no one around you because you can’t see the neighbors when the trees” have leaves, Homcy said.
The neighborhood is dotted with mansions, many brick colonials, that are valued at “well over a million dollars,” he said.
The home would be good for a young professional, Homcy said. “It’s definitely set up for entertaining with the beautiful pool and outside areas.”
