NJ Transit bus strikes, kills pedestrian. Another person seriously injured.

One person was killed and another seriously injured after being struck by an NJ Transit bus in Newark early Sunday.

The two pedestrians were hit at 12:18 a.m. on the 400 block of Springfield Avenue, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Koran Tajhai Dupree Baker, 25, of Newark, died of his injuries at an area hospital. The other person remains hospitalized.

The bus driver stopped at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

NJ Transit declined to comment on Monday.
