The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association has suffered its biggest courtroom loss in 107 years of policing high school sports in the state, and if you were among the people celebrating that news on Friday afternoon, you might want to put down the bubbly and consider the consequences.

Oh, look, have there been times over the years when I’ve wanted to see the NJSIAA get knocked off its pedestal? Of course. Too often, a team has its championship dreams dashed because of a clerical error or violation of some obscure bylaw, and the response from state officials is to shrug their blue-blazer-covered shoulders and give what amounts to a three-word response.
