Popular rock singer blames erratic performance on being ‘roofied’ by ex-band member

Wes Scantlin of the band Puddle of Mudd claims ex-band member roofied him before Saturday performanceAP

Lead singer/guitarist Wes Scantlin is taking criticism for another (let’s say) unbecoming live performance. Puddle of Mudd played a benefit show during Daytona Bike Week in Florida at the Broken Spoke Saloon this past Saturday.

The band also auctioned off a signed guitar, raising $5,000 for children’s cancer research.

Following the show, fans who attended the free concert went to Broken Spoke Saloon’s Facebook page and spoke about how bad the show was. The comments were primarily geared towards Scantlin’s performance, where he was allegedly said to be rambling at points.

“What a disaster that concert was left after 30 minutes good thing the guitar was auctioned off before they went on….,” one fan wrote.

“Other than Wes, all of the members of the band are really good and handled it pretty well, but Wes has some real issues, and I don’t know how much longer they’ll be able to continue like that again,” another commenter noted.

A fan spoke to Scantlin the next day and asked what had happened. Scantlin replied that an old Puddle of Mudd bandmate was to blame.

“I suck, I suck, and I suck, but I was roofied. My old bass player, Sean Sammon roofied me last night, so he can go f--- his a--.”

One thing to note is that Sammon officially stopped playing with the band in 2002.

This is not the first time Scantlin has had an erratic performance on stage in conjunction with his struggles with drug addiction. Puddle of Mudd was booed offstage in 2015 during a show in Ohio. In 2016, Scantlin berated a fan and claimed they stole his house at another Ohio show.
