Attention Chalamaniacs:
There’s been a new sighting.
Timothée Chalamet, who has been filming the Bob Dylan movie “A Complete Unknown" in New Jersey since March, was filming in Newark Monday.
Chalamet, 28, plays a young Dylan in the 1960s-set movie, directed by James Mangold (”Ford v. Ferrari,” “Cop Land”).
The film tracks Dylan’s rise as a singer-songwriter after he leaves his home in Minnesota as a teenager to come to New York.
Mangold and Chalamet were seen on set in the vicinity of Broad Street and Commerce Street, home to the National Newark Building and the nearby Eleven80 apartments, whose lobby was made to look like CBS headquarters. Streets were stocked with ’60s vehicles for the occasion.
Chalamet, who wore a decade-appropriate brown jacket, jeans and boots, could also be seen filming near the production’s version of Columbia Records.

One window displayed Dylan’s 1963 album “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan,” among other records of the day.
Instead of artist Suze Rotolo, who is pictured embracing Dylan on the real album cover, the record showed Chalamet with Elle Fanning, who plays the Rotolo character in the film.
Rotolo and Dylan were in a relationship in the early ’60s.

Fanning and Chalamet were seen on set this month in Paterson and Passaic.
Eleven80 opened as the art deco Lefcourt Newark Building in 1930. The National Newark Building, originally home to the National Newark & Essex Banking Company, is often used for TV and film production because of its 1930s neoclassical look. Its many credits include the the HBO adaptation of Philip Roth’s “The Plot Against America” and Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story.”
So far, “A Complete Unknown” has also filmed in Hoboken, Jersey City and Mountainside.

Weeks ago, an open casting call went out for New Jersey extras needed for scenes being filmed in Cape May this May.
Given the timing and subject of the movie, those scenes look to be depicting a significant moment in Dylan history — his performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. It was there that he publicly used an electric guitar for the first time, ruffling some feathers in the folk community.
Dylan also played his hit song “Like a Rolling Stone” for the first time at the festival that year. The song is the source of the movie’s title — “How does it feel?” Dylan sings. “To be on your own, with no direction home. A complete unknown, like a rolling stone.”

Earlier this month, Chalamet and one of his co-stars, Monica Barbaro (”Top Gun: Maverick”), who plays folk singer Joan Baez, filmed scenes at Echo Lake Park in Mountainside.
They sang together — yes, Chalamet uses his own voice to sing, as he did in “Wonka” — for scenes showing Dylan and Baez’s duet at the 1963 Monterey Folk Festival. Baez and Dylan had a musical and romantic relationship.
Moran’s, a pub in Hoboken, was given a ’60s makeover for the production. Chalamet recently filmed at the bar as his dedicated fans waited for him to emerge.

In Jersey City, the “Dune: Part Two” star could be seen toting a guitar case around streets outfitted with ’60s storefronts. They were designed to look like Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, complete with Cafe Wha? — a spot where Dylan and other artists were known to play.
Searchlight Pictures says that “A Complete Unknown” will continue production through June. Dylan himself is an executive producer of the movie alongside Chalamet and Mangold.
The film also stars Oscar nominee Edward Norton as folk legend Pete Seeger.
Jersey actors P.J. Byrne (”Babylon”), from Old Tappan, and Charlie Tahan (”Ozark”), from Glen Rock, are among the cast.
So are Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Scoot McNairy (“12 Years a Slave”) and Dan Fogler (the “Fantastic Beasts” movies).
