Seton Hall was unable to build off Saturday’s dramatic win over UConn at Prudential Center.

The Pirates were hammered by No. 16 Marquette, 80-56, at FiServ Arena in Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles swept the season series with The Hall, who have dropped 10 of 11.

The Hall fell to 7-19, 2-13 in the Big East, while Marquette improved to 20-6, 11-4. The Golden Eagles are tied with Creighton for second place in the Big East behind St. John’s.

The Hall remained winless on the road.

“We didn’t have energy at all,” Pirates coach Shaheen Holloway said in his post-game radio interview. “After the win we had against UConn, nobody could practice and everybody’s hurt. Everybody’s sore. We couldn’t do anything the last two days.

“You can’t come and play against a very good Marquette team, and not prepare the way you need to prepare. We didn’t. Guys got a little happy off that win and everybody was hurt and sore, and we couldn’t do too much. And you come here and this is what happens.”

Isaiah Coleman led The Hall with 13 points, but no other player reached double-figures. Gus Yalden returned to his home state and went for 6 points, an assist and a rebound.

“I don’t think nobody had a solid game for us, I think we got what we deserved,” Holloway said.

“There was no bright spots tonight, I’m not gonna sit here and play make believe...They just came out hungry and they kicked our butt.”

Kam Jones went for 14 points and 5 assists for Marquette, Chase Ross scored 11 and Ben Gold 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The Hall trailed 40-23 at the half.

Earlier Tuesday, UConn beat Villanova 66-59. The Huskies visit No. 10 St. John’s Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

The Pirates host Xavier on Sunday at Prudential Center. The Musketeers (17-10) beat Butler 76-63 Tuesday night.
