Should cellphones be banned in schools? No way, these N.J. parents say

Cara Davis says the Monmouth County school district where her daughter attends middle school is incredibly safe.

But she wouldn’t feel comfortable if the school district took away her daughter’s access to her cellphone during the school day — especially when grim news about school shootings regularly make headlines, the Holmdel mother said.

“I’m very, very pleased with how security is in my district,” Davis said recently. “I still would never forgive myself if the one in a million thing happened, and I took away the one tool that could’ve possibly helped.”
