Still no action taken to protect N.J. consumers from shoddy home contractors. Why the delay?

New rules that would protect New Jersey homeowners from shoddy home improvement contractors are now a year old, but no action has been taken to enact the safeguards.

Landmark legislation was signed one year ago, on Jan. 8, to create a new state license for contractors. The first step to set the protections in motion is the establishment of a board that would set education and experience requirements for the new license.

But the deadline to appoint members to the board was July 1, and the process appears to remain stalled.
