West New York man convicted of murdering his mother

A West New York man was convicted Monday of murdering his mother in 2021 inside the home they shared, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Tuesday.

Emmanuel Gonzalez, 37, is facing 30 years to life in prison after a Hudson County jury found him guilty in the death of 62-year-old Irma Gonzalez. The verdict was delivered before Hudson County Superior Court Judge Angelo Servidio after a week-long trial.

West New York police officers responded to 439 66th St. at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 14, 2021, on a report of an unresponsive woman. They were met by Emannuel Gonzalez, and taken to a bedroom where Irma Gonzalez was found unresponsive.
