Body found near Hudson River picnic area near GW Bridge

Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body along the Hudson River shoreline in Fort Lee on Saturday morning, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said Sunday.

The prosecutor’s office said the body was discovered at 10:58 a.m. on Saturday just north of the George Washington Bridge near the Ross Dock Picnic Area.

Authorities withheld the identify of the person pending notification of their next of kin. The office also did not elaborate Sunday on any theories of what may have occurred.

The area is part of Palisades Interstate Park, at the base of the cliffs that give the park its name.

The bi-state Palisades Interstate Park Police are also involved in the investigation, the prosecutor’s office said.
