Both drivers were injured in a crash involving a school bus and medical transport van Wednesday morning in Medford, authorities said.
A 30-year-old man driving the medial transport van was traveling south on Hartford Road near Church Road when he collided with the northbound school bus around 6:20 a.m., Medford police said.
There were no students aboard the bus and no passengers in the van.
The van driver was flown to a hospital for treatment.
The van veered off the road and overturned.
A 34-year-old woman driving the bus was brought to an area hospital with an arm injury, police said.
Hillman’s Bus Service, the West Berlin-based operator of the school bus, declined to comment when reached by phone.
Though the crash happened in the area of Lenape High School, the bus was not headed to or from the high school and is not a district bus, a district spokesman said.
“While we are thankful that no members of the Lenape Family were involved in the motor vehicle accident that closed down Hartford Road, our thoughts are with those who were involved,” the district said in note to parents and community members.
The note added that all Lenape High School buses arrived safely and that the school day was proceeding normally.
The crash remains under investigation.
