Powerball ticket worth $50K sold at N.J. convenience store

A Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold for Monday’s lottery drawing at a convenience store in Burlington County.

The lucky Powerball third-prize ticket was sold at Township News Centre on Mount Holly Road in Burlington, lottery officials said. It matched four numbers plus the Powerball.

No one across the country hit Monday’s $279 million jackpot. There were also no second-prize, $1 million tickets sold.

Monday’s winning numbers were: 18, 20, 50, 52 and 56. The Powerball drawn was 20 with a Power Play of 2X.

In addition, no one hit the secondary, $10 million Double Play drawing. Those winning numbers were: 9, 34, 54, 67 and 69. The Double Play number drawn was 11.

The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers but not the Powerball and win at least $1 million. The odds of winning a third prize of at least $50,000 are 913,129 to 1.

Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot is worth an estimated $215 million with a cash option of $100.9 million.
