If you bought certain Robitussin products, you may be eligible to get money back as part of a $4.5 million settlement.
The settlement ends two lawsuits that claimed that some of the products were “deceptively marketed, advertised, labeled, and sold as `Non-Drowsy,’” but actually contained dextromethorphan, which may cause drowsiness, the settlement website said.
Haleon, Robitussin’s manufacturer, denied any wrongdoing and agreed to the settlement to avoid legal expenses, according to the settlement website. The company did not respond to requests for comment by NJ Advance Media.
The company also agreed to stop marketing and distributing the affected brands, and it agreed not to describe the products as “non-drowsy” in future advertisements, the website said.
You may be eligible for the settlement if you bought the included Robitussin products between Feb. 16, 2016 and Jan. 21, 2025, the website said.
The final amount consumers could receive has not yet been determined, but it’s estimated that the payment will be between $1.50 and $4.75 per claim depending on how many claims are received.
“Only one Claim per household may be submitted without Qualifying Proof of Purchase,” the website said. “Up to three Claims per household may be filed per household with a Qualifying Proof of Purchase for each such Claim.”

- Robitussin Honey Cough+Chest Congestion DM Maximum Strength Syrups;

The deadline to file a claim is May 12, 2025.
